During April 17-26, 2018, the 2018 Training Workshop of Chinese Migrants Health and Family Planning Dynamic Survey was held respectively in Beijing and Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. The training class was sponsored by the Department of Migrant Population under the National Health Commission of China and CPDRC.

More than 700 participants from the health commissions of 31 Chinese provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the State Council), Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, prefectural cities and some counties took part in the training.

Wang Qian, Head of the Department of Migrant Population under the National Health Commission, and Shen Liwen, Secretary of the Party Committee of CPDRC, attended and addressed the opening and closing ceremonies of the training class, and imposed specific requirements about the training and implementation of the survey. The survey is conducted in the middle of the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and the results will provide a scientific basis for the key indicators of the dynamic monitoring of migrant population health in China. Zhuang Ya’er, researcher of CPDRC, and Wu Xiao, Head of the Division of Dynamic Monitoring of the Department of Migrant Population, addressed each session of training for the summarizing purpose.

At the training class, the experts from CPDRC explained the key and difficult parts of the questionnaires, the functions of the survey system, compilation of the sampling roster at the third stage, requirements for the evaluation of survey quality and the matters worth attention during the survey process. Meanwhile, simulation demonstrations for typical cases were conducted. Trainees filled in questionnaires at the site based on actual simulation demonstrations, and took part in simulation practice after the first day of training. Trainees will carry out secondary training in respective provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities under the State Council) as teachers, and be responsible for question reply and review in subsequent surveys as supervisors.

Several researchers from the Department of Survey & Evaluation Data, Department of Information Networks Management and Department of Population Research participated in the organization of the training class and gave lectures.
